Nudity Scandal Shakes Young Hollywood

 by Kirsten K

Several young Hollywood starlets, most notably Jennifer Lawrence, have been the victims of yet another nudity scandal. Celebrity iCloud accounts were allegedly hacked, resulting in a slew of images of famous naked bodies being released to the general public.

Many people may be wondering what the fuss is all about. By now most of us are probably so used to the barrage of stars in various degrees of undress, that we may have developed a certain level of desensitisation towards nipple slips and post-shower selfies. However, it’s the extent of the hacking scandal that has left many stars fearing for their privacy. Sources claim that the list of naked stars is extensive, and is said to include Selena Gomez, Kirsten Dunst, Lea Michele and Ariana Grande, among many others.

The anonymous hacker has also boasted of possessing a video featuring Jennifer Lawrence, in which she is said to perform acts of a sexual nature. If this is true, it could be a severe knock to Lawrence’s carefully crafted ‘girl-next-door’ image.

Twitter has been aflutter since the leak occurred, with several celebrities vehemently denying the existence of their nude pictures. Most disturbing, however, is the #LeakForJLaw campaign started by 4Chan, in which they encourage young girls to tweet naked selfies in solidarity with the humiliated star.

So the cycle is perpetuated, with opportunists exploiting naïve fans under the auspices of encouraging young girls to reclaim power over their own bodies.
